A Bible Study For Overwhelmed Moms
Today I am excited to share with you a Bible study that I have put together for moms who struggle with anxiety – “How to Cope with the Anxiety of Motherhood”.
Anxiety is something that I have struggled with as a mom. Life was just different as a single woman who really didn’t have others depending on her. If something bad happened, I felt like I was, for the most part, the only one that would be affected. Of course, that isn’t true, but that is how it felt.
And then I held my little girl in my arms and the weight of the world came crashing down on me. To me, the blessing of being a mom has been the absolute best experience of my life, but at times the responsibility can be a bit crushing.
That led me to write my posts 4 Encouraging Verses Discouragement and Anxiety and 5 Essential Oils to Help With Anxious Feelings.
Why I Wrote This Bible Study
As I mentioned before, in different seasons of my life, I do struggle with anxiety. And I have people in my life that Iove dearly that also struggle with anxiety.
And, as I said, I do feel that it is helpful to sometimes meditate on single verses in the Bible, but I think that it is important to really spend time reading and getting to know the Bible in an intimate way.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:8 ESV
I also think it is important to understand that single verses, which can be encouraging, can be taken out of context if not read as a part of a whole.
Why Bible Study Can Help Even If You Have An Overwhelming Schedule
I understand that studying the Bible can be extremely difficult if you are a mom. Darn near impossible sometimes. I get it, but I do believe that if you are struggling with the pressures of being a mom, finding time to study God’s word will help you find peace.
How To Use This Bible Study
The last thing in the world I want to do is make you feel more anxious or more overwhelmed.
If you finish this workbook in one sitting – great! After that, you can come out of hiding and unlock the bathroom door.
If you can only devote 5 minutes every morning or evening after the kids have gone to bed – great! I truly believe that you will begin
If you can only spend time in the workbook once or twice a week – great! That is a wonderful start. Start where you are.
So…What’s In This Bible Study Anyways?
First, I go over what anxiety actually is.
Next, I briefly go over healthy ways to relieve anxiety. And not just studying the Bible.
Following that, I go over examples of anxiety in the Bible. That’s right. Anxiety is not a new concept.
And then finally, I talk about Biblical ways to deal with anxiety.
