In this modern world, it seems that a lot of moms I know struggle with anxious feelings. The Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) states that 40 million adults or 18 percent of our population have some form of anxiety disorder. That is 1 in 5 adults!
I have struggled with anxious feelings myself, and have people that are dear to me that also struggle with it. Sometimes it can knock you down without any warning.
I am taking steps to reduce anxious feelings in my own life. Using essential oils is one way that is helping.
Today I am sharing two essential oils and three essential oil blends that can help reduce anxious feelings.
I hope this helps! If you have any questions let me know.

5 Essential Oils and Blends to Help with Anxious Feelings
-
Frankincense
Frankincense is famous for being one of the gifts that the Three Wise Men brought to Jesus. It is an essential oil that is steam distilled from the resin of trees in the Boswellia family. This essential oil has a sweet, balsamic incense-like aroma that has been used in many religious practices for hundreds if not thousands of years.
This oil is beneficial for emotional balance, concentration, and easing feelings of sadness. It also has historically been used during prayer.
It blends well with Lavender, Myrrh, and Sandalwood.
-
Vetiver
Vetiver is an essential oil that is steam distilled from the roots of this bunch grass that typically grows in tropical areas.
It is also an oil that is beneficial for emotional balance, concentration, and easing feelings of sadness or self-doubt. It is also very beneficial for people that are struggling with anxious feelings, restless nights, and for people who have experienced traumatic events.
Vetiver blends well with Lavender, Sandalwood, and Ylang Ylang.
-
Calming Blend
Calming blends are typically made up of Lavender, Vanilla, Roman Chamomile, Sandalwood, Sweet Marjoram, and Ylang Ylang. You can also choose 2 or 3 of these oils to make a blend if you do not have access to all of the oils (quality Roman Chamomile can be hard to find).
Calming blends are used for restless nights, anxious feelings, stress, emotional balance, diffusing anger, and even as a perfume.
This blend can be applied NEAT, which means a carrier oil is not necessary. Although I would use a carrier oil for children and people with sensitive skin. Using a carrier oil also helps bottles of essential oil last longer.
-
Grounding Blend
Grounding blends are made from Blue Chamomile, Blue Tansy, Frankincense, Ho Wood, and Spruce.
Just like a Calming Blend, just using 2 or 3 of these oils can be beneficial for stabilizing your emotions, reducing stress, and easing anxious feelings. This blend can help a person feel calm and reduce feelings of fear. If you have a fear of flying, or get anxious feelings when traveling, this blend can be helpful.
This blend is also safe for NEAT application. (Read Calming Blend above for explanation.)
-
Reassuring Blend
It is typically made up of Clary Sage, Frankincense, Lavender, Marjoram, Spearmint, Vetiver, and Ylang Ylang. Just like the previous two blends, even if you only have a few of these oils they can help with your anxious feelings.
This blend can help you relax and compose yourself. Reassuring Blends can be helpful for when you are feeling restless, having a hard time concentrating, or feeling stressed.
This blend can be applied NEAT, but should be used with caution during the beginning of a pregnancy.
