Summer Project
My hubby and I are working on a huge DIY project for most of the month of July. We are painting and putting down hardwood floors in our living room. By ourselves. Together. Yes, this project is going to test our patience. Hopefully it will make our relationship stronger rather pull us apart.
The living room is already starting to look a lot better.
After a fiasco at Home Depot I ended up getting a great paint color.
Enjoying the Holiday
I am also hoping to have a little bit of time to relax and enjoy the holiday.
I am working on some great books this summer. And in honor of the Fourth of July, one of the books I am reading is ‘John Adams‘ by David McCullough.
If you have been following this blog for a while you will remember that last year I reviewed ‘1776‘ by David McCullough. It was such an amazing book. David McCullough quickly became one of my favorite authors after reading it. I honestly believe it should be recommended reading for high school students.
If you are new to my blog, check out my review here.
‘1776‘ is one of the best books I have read in a long time and I can’t wait to finish reading ‘John Adams‘. You can be sure that I will let you know when my book review is ready.
Whipping up a holiday treat.
I am also working on a current obsession of mine. Ice cream. Specifically no-churn ice cream, or freezer ice cream. I have experimented with lemon and peach flavors that turned out pretty darn good. For the holiday weekend I made a Cherry White Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream. Very soon I will be sharing that recipe.
A Bear Sighting!
Oh! And the craziest thing happened this weekend. I saw a bear on my back porch! My dogs were going crazy, which sadly isn’t anything new. This time I heard something really large go over my back fence. When I went to check it out what had them so riled up I saw the bear. Crazy! I have always wanted to see a bear, but not so close. I am sorry about the quality of the picture, but it was around 4:30 in the morning and I was probably shaking. Okay, no probably about it. I was shaking.
Are you traveling during the holiday weekend?
